UNICEF funds construction of classrooms in Nampula

UNICEF financia construção de salas de aula em Nampula

The United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) is building fourteen resilient classrooms and public toilets in three schools in the Chipene, Lúrio and Sede Administrative Posts in Memba district, Nampula province.

With the construction of these schools, it is hoped that more than 5,000 students will be able to study in good conditions and improve the teaching and learning process.

The action is part of the Community Recovery and Resilience Plan and has the partnership of the Ministry of Education and Human Development.

Silvério Rassul, director of the Memba District Service for Education, Youth and Technology, was quoted by Rádio Moçambique as saying that the construction and rehabilitation of school infrastructures in Namahaca, Chipene and Lúrio will be equipped with furniture.

The source also said that the government's challenge is to increase the number of students in schools, as well as to help ensure that classes are not interrupted by natural disasters.
