An insurgent was shot dead in an ambush by the Defense and Security Forces, supported by Tanzanian forces, against a terrorist group in the village of Ng'angolo, in the town of Nangade, in Cabo Delgado province.
The last terrorist attack in the area took place last July. The recent raid took place in the early hours of Wednesday morning.
The joint force was already in place on Tuesday night, waiting for the insurgents. The area borders Tanzania.
Sources quoted by Zitamar indicated that Guilherme, the dead insurgent, was the right-hand man of the insurgent commander, identified as Óscar.
At the scene of the clashes there was an exchange of fire and a 34-year-old woman was shot in the right buttock. She received first aid at the scene before being taken to a local health center.
The security forces seized an AK-47, three ammunition magazines, 1,280 meticais, some medicines, food and other miscellaneous items.
