The European Union (EU) has already invested more than 400 million euros in Mozambique as part of its bilateral cooperation and partnership.
The information was given this Tuesday in Maputo by the EU High Commissioner for International Partnerships, Jutta Urpilainen, minutes after an audience with the Minister for Foreign Affairs, Verónica Macamo.
"Our financial commitment to Mozambique exceeds 400 million euros and that is the reason for my presence in your country, to deepen this partnership, to encourage new European companies to invest in Mozambique," he said.
During the meeting, issues of support for the upcoming general elections, terrorism in Cabo Delgado and other issues related to the country's development were highlighted.
The diplomat also said that "we are jointly committed to a number of themes, supporting security issues, development, such as the green transition, good governance and youth development".
He also said that Mozambique is a country where young people represent more than 50% of the population, which is why the EU and the Mozambican government have been working to create job opportunities and empower young people so that they can take their place in life. the future of the country.
For his part, Macamo said that the High Commissioner's visit was extremely important for boosting the excellent relations between Mozambique and the EU.
