Nampula was the province that registered the most cases of electoral disputes and illicit acts during voting day on October 9, with 56 cases.
According to a publication in the newspaper "The Country", which quotes the Supreme Court, of the crimes recorded during voting, the highlight goes to damage to electoral propaganda material and cases of ballot papers being inserted into the ballot box.
At the time, hundreds of people were arrested on charges of electoral offenses, 305 of whom had their cases heard by the Supreme Court.
In terms of the distribution of cases by province, Nampula is followed by Zambézia and Sofala, with 45 and 39 respectively. Niassa registered 32 cases. Gaza and Cabo Delgado had the fewest cases in the district courts.
"Of the 305 defendants, 33 are women, from different professions, in particular police officers from the Republic of Mozambique and other civil servants," said the Supreme Court, noting that four farmers, two unemployed people, two teachers, one student, four civil servants, four domestic workers, two shopkeepers and one PRM officer were made defendants.
