In compliance with an order from the Maputo City Court, Law and Order agents arrested the politician and leader of the Democratic Revolution (RD) party, Vitano Singano, a few days ago in the Mozambican capital.
According to the court order, Vitano Singano, known for his harsh statements against the Frelimo party, which has ruled the country for almost half a century, is accused of committing the crimes of: "Conjuration or conspiracy to commit crimes against the security of the state, punishable under the terms of article 385 of the Penal Code, as there is alleged evidence of a group of people concerting to commit crimes against the state; Violent alteration of the rule of law, provided for and punishable under the terms of article 392 of the Penal Code, as there is evidence of a group of people who by means of violence attempt to destroy, alter or subvert the constitutionally established rule of law."
It's worth remembering that in the current political scenario in the country, Vitano Singano has shown himself to be a staunch supporter of Venâncio Mondlane, a fact that has led Renamo to accuse him of mobilizing the former guerrillas of Perdiz for a possible entry into the scene of the men due to electoral fraud that has paralyzed the country in recent days through demonstrations throughout the national territory and in the diaspora.
