Three members of the Assembly of the Republic, belonging to the Frelimo caucus, have requested the suspension of their mandates due to the incompatibility of electoral functions. The decision was announced by the President of Parliament, Margarida Talapa, during the opening of the first Extraordinary Session of the Assembly of the Republic.
They are Elisa Zacarias, Amélia Muendane and Esperança Bias. The first two were elected for the Tete and Inhambane constituencies, while Esperança Bias represents the Manica constituency.
However, according to a publication on the "Sports 24h", the suspension of their mandates was justified by the need to fulfill other public functions.
The deputies who temporarily left office were immediately replaced by substitutes from the electoral lists submitted to the electoral administration bodies.
