Inter-provincial transport will have new fares as of July 15

The inter-provincial passenger transport fare will be increased from July 15 of the current year as a result of the high cost of fuel.

According to the table provided by the Mozambican Federation of Road Carriers' Associations (FEMATRO), the trip from Maputo-Lichinga, for example, will cost 6000.00 Meticais, while from Maputo to Pemba will cost 5500.00.

The trip from Maputo to Chokwe that currently costs 350.00 Meticais will increase to 500.00 Meticais and from Maputo to Nampula will increase from 3600.00 to 4500.00 Meticais. The Maputo-Quelimane route that costs 2800.00 will go to 3500.00 Meticais.

According to FEMATRO's vice-president, Sancho Mavunja, the new table was approved in December last year, and at this moment the process of its disclosure is underway.

Meanwhile, according to the source, inter-district fares will also be updated in the coming days, and negotiations are currently underway between the carriers and the provincial governments.
