Economist Tomás Matola is stepping down as Chairman of the Board of Directors of Banco Nacional de Investimentos (BNI) to head up Hidroeléctrica de Cabora Bassa (HCB). Matola succeeds Boaventura Mahambe, who has held the position since March 2021.
Tomás Matola, 44, has had remarkable success in managing BNI, making the public bank pay dividends to the state and become an attractive asset for the first time.
Last week, under the leadership of Tomás Matola, BNI announced profits of 206 million meticais and a check for 60 million to the state in the form of dividends.
