The health sector in Tete province is stepping up epidemiological surveillance measures along the border with Malawi in response to the diagnosis of Mpox, also known as monkeypox.
To this end, a number of campaigns are underway, from passenger screening to mandatory hand washing and disinfection of means of transport at crossing points with Malawi, in order to prevent the possible entry of people infected with the disease.
Quoted by Radio Mozambique, Aniceto Messoa, head of epidemiological surveillance at the provincial health service, said that so far the province had not registered any suspected cases of the disease.
The source said that it was important for the population of the province to be vigilant in order to prevent the outbreak of the disease.
