Public institutions in Tete province, central Mozambique, have a debt of more than 232 million meticais with the company Águas da Região do Centro.
The information was provided by the director of Águas da Região do Centro, Mussa Abacar, who said that "the scenario is making it difficult to acquire consumables to supply water to the population of the cities of Tete and Moatize".
According to the source, quoted by Radio MozambiqueAt the same time, more than 19,500 customers are not paying their water bills.
"Another very worrying challenge for our province of Tete has to do with the vandalization of our water supply infrastructures. There's a growing wave of vandalization of our infrastructure and it's not so cheap to replace. We have losses of over 40% of the water we are producing," he added.
