The electric vehicle manufacturer has launched a new solar tile that has a higher energy output while maintaining the dimensions of the old one.
The company's goal is to make the switch to solar power more elegantly by replacing regular shingles with solar shingles that generate power, rather than having to install bulky solar panels.
According to Elon Musk's company, the technology used in the new tile enables power output, with this one allowing 71.67 watts to be delivered, while the older tile maxed out at 58.5 watts. The size of the tile remained unchanged, even as the power output increased by 22%.
Through this new tile, the company will now be able to generate greater energy production while simplifying the installation process, as there are fewer connections to be made between solar tiles.
However, the new tiles can also be installed over existing roofs, allowing clean energy enthusiasts to switch to solar power without incurring the high costs of a new roof installation, states a report by Electrek.
