The UK government is appealing to British citizens not to travel to Chiúre, Mueda and Nangade, in Cabo Delgado, due to new terrorist threats.

"Due to attacks by groups with links to Islamic extremism, the Foreign Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO), responsible for protecting British interests and citizens abroad, advises against all travel to the districts of Cabo Delgado province, with the exception of Palma," reads a message to travelers released yesterday, Thursday (11) by the United Kingdom.

According to the British government's note, to which the MZNews had access to, the appeal also extends to some districts of Nampula province that border Cabo Delgado.

"The FCDO advises against all but essential travel to the districts of Memba and Eráti, in Nampula province, due to terrorist attacks.

The province of Cabo Delgado in northern Mozambique has been facing attacks claimed by the Islamic State for six years.
