Terrorism: Mozambique and the EU hold military exercises in Maganja da Costa

Mozambican troops and the European Union Military Mission in Mozambique (EUTM-MOZ) are starting military exercises today in the Maganja da Costa district of Zambezia province.

The act will run until the 27th of this month and aims to combat terrorism in the north of the country, particularly in Cabo Delgado province.

In a document to which we have had access, the Armed Defense Forces of Mozambique state that operation "Aringa 2024" also aims to assess the capabilities of the Quick Reaction Forces (QRFs) in the Land, Maritime and Air components. But it also aims to create synergies between the forces.

Mozambican military personnel trained in the 5th EUTM-MOZ Training Cycle will be involved in the exercises, at the KaTembe and Mavalane training camps, in Maputo province, and at Dongo, in Manica province.

Interviewed by Rádio Moçambique, the Administrator of Maganja da Costa appealed to the population to remain calm, and not to interpret the exercises with the situation taking place in Cabo Delgado.
