The fare for semi-collective passenger transport, known as "chapa", will be increased in the coming days, from the current 10 to 15 meticais. The announcement was made by the president of the Municipal Council of Nampula City.
Paulo Vahanle, who was speaking a few days ago at the inauguration of the Rua Mártires de Mueda, regretted the situation, justifying that he could not find any other alternative before the pressure of the carriers. The announcement was applauded both by some residents and by the operators of the semi-collective passenger transports.
The "chapa" users demanded, however, seriousness from the carriers, especially in complying with the routes. Rodrigues Lázaro, user, said that the fare increase is a welcome decision, because it puts an end to the uncertainty experienced by the citizens in the face of threats from operators.
