Tanzania announces 12,000 new jobs in the health and education sectors

Tanzânia anuncia 12.000 novos empregos nos sectores de saúde e educação

The President of Tanzania, Samia Suluhu Hassan, announced that in just 12 days since the start of her second term, 7,000 new vacancies for teachers and 5,000 jobs in the health sector have already been announced.

The move is part of the government's strategy to strengthen the provision of essential services to Tanzanian citizens.

In a speech on November 14, 2025, during the inauguration of the 13th Parliament in Dodoma, President Samia said that increasing the number of employees in the education and health sectors will improve the accountability and efficiency of workers, ultimately resulting in better services across the country.

She emphasized that these two sectors are fundamental pillars of national development and therefore the government will continue to ensure that they receive adequate human resources and infrastructure to meet the needs of Tanzanians in all regions.

In addition, President Samia announced a ban on hospitals and health centers retaining the bodies of people who have died due to unpaid bills. She determined that families should be allowed to take the bodies, while outstanding payments can be settled gradually, in order to reduce suffering and preserve the dignity of the bereaved families.
