The head of the Public Health Department in the province confirmed that a daily average of 15 cases were admitted to the treatment center. Quoted by RFI, Geraldino Avalinho, head of the Public Health Department in the province, explained that "what worries us is that many of these patients are admitted with severe dehydration".
"At the moment, in addition to Carrupeia, we are already registering some cases in the Napipine neighborhood, in the Namicopo neighborhood, Muatala, which means that the outbreak is already spreading," said Geraldino Avalinho.
Deputy Health Minister Ilesh Jani admits that there are outbreaks of cholera in the country, but reassures society.
"It's not an outbreak of a similar scale to what we saw in other districts at the start of this cholera epidemic, so the epidemic in Nampula is under control, but we still have some cases," concluded Ilesh Jani.
Data from the Ministry of Health indicates that in the first eight days of August alone, the country registered 143 cases, mostly in the city of Nampula.
