Omicron subvariant causes outbreak of Covid-19 cases in U.S.

With a high virulence potential, XBB 1.5 is increasingly being detected in patients in the United States. Experts fear that a mutation discovered in the updated version of omicron will make it more resistant to available vaccines.

According to the international press, the sub-variant XBB.1.5 has already caused an increase of more than 40 percent in Covid-19 cases in the United States and 70% in New York State.

Data from the World Health Organization show that the Omicron offspring has already been detected in 28 countries.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, XBB.1.5 may be more transmissible than other variants". However, it is not yet known to what extent the strain can have serious effects.

XBB.1.5 is related to the Omicron XBB variant, which has been found in at least 35 countries and with clinical severity in Singapore and India, according to data from the World Health Organization.

The WHO is carrying out a risk assessment on Subvariant and the results should be released in the next few days.
