Standard Bank promotes debate on agribusiness in Nampula

Standard Bank promotes, tomorrow, September 28th, the Agribusiness Forum Nampula, an event that aims to bring together all actors of the agribusiness value chain in the province to discuss the business context and resulting opportunities for growth and increased competitiveness in the sector.

The forum aims to discuss and highlight how the trade of agrarian products/commodities in Nampula, in particular, and in the Northern Zone in general, can stimulate greater broad-based economic dynamics in the region and in the country.

During the forum, the potential for domestic marketing and export of local production and its contribution to import substitution, export growth, and the consequent positive impact on the trade balance, as well as the promotion of employment and alternative forms of income for many families, will be widely debated.

The participants of the forum, under the theme "Commerce of Agricultural Products/Commodities-Context and Opportunities with emphasis on the Northern Region of the Country", will also reflect on how to maximize the production and commercialization potential of the region with a view to improving the competitiveness and sustainability of the main value chains of agricultural products/commodities, such as grains, oilseeds, cashew nuts, poultry, and bananas.

Discussions will focus on issues related to agricultural marketing, including production capacity at scale, the mutualistic relationship between the various actors involved in agricultural marketing chains, as well as issues of logistics, commodity price fluctuation, and marketing campaign financing.

The thematic approach of the event should also cover topics related to export markets with a focus on Asian countries, incentives available for attracting investment to the agricultural sector and the promotion of exports of agricultural products/commodities from Mozambique.

It is important to highlight that the forum will have the participation of several speakers, individuals and companies linked to the agribusiness sector, in addition to experts from the bank who will present the solutions that Standard Bank has to support companies operating in the sector.

This Standard Bank initiative will also allow companies and organizations to establish strategic partnerships for promotion, innovation and entrepreneurship.
