Sporting is trying to get hold of young Mozambican Geny Catamo and there's a League 3 club to 'take advantage'

Sporting tenta lapidar o jovem moçambicano Geny Catamo e há um clube da Liga 3 a ‘aproveitar’

In a season marked by a positive start for Portuguese club Sporting Lisbon, there's a name emerging in Rúben Amorim's squad, as the coach has (finally) managed to nurture a youngster - on loan - who has been longing for an opportunity.

Young Mozambican Geny Catamo has shone in every game and Amora, from League 3, can 'take advantage' of this to fill their pockets.

According to information provided by the Record newspaper, the Leonine emblem only guaranteed 25% of the player's pass when he was signed from Amora, valued at the time (2019/20) at 600,000 euros, and it was stipulated that the remaining 75% would be paid in stages.

Between August 2021 and 2023, Sporting paid between 150,000 and 250,000 euros for certain percentages, which amounted to 600,000 euros for 75% of the economic rights, but the footballer's appreciation has caused his price to rise and, in this way, the Liga 3 club can pocket a few thousand euros more.

It's worth remembering that Mozambican Geny Catamo joined the lions in the summer of 2019 and began to make a name for himself in the under-23s and the B team, until he made his first-team debut in 2021/22, under the guidance of Rúben Amorim, after which he was loaned out to Vitória SC and Marítimo.

This season, Catamo has played in all four games for the Green and Whites in the I Liga, one of which as a starter, so there's no doubt that this is a bet that Rúben Amorim wants to make the most of.
