Sony posts 1.6 million euro profit, but indicates sales drop

Technology and audiovisual conglomerate Sony earned a profit of 218,200 million yen (1,610 million euros) in the first fiscal quarter of the year, between April and June, corresponding to 03% in this interannual period, reports Lusa, citing a company quarterly report.

The Japanese company says that lower sales of electronic games and higher costs explain the figure (3%) that marks the quarter.

Still, the company indicates operating earnings of 307,000 million yen (€2,260 million), about 10% more compared to the same period last year.

The quarterly report indicates that sales revenue increased 21TP2Q (inter-year period), boosted by the music and film sectors.

Sony indicates that the weakness of the Japanese currency and significant declines in the company's financial services are also reflected in the figures reported today.
