Soldier on SADC mission dies in road accident in Cabo Delgado

A Lesotho Defense Forces soldier, who was part of the SADC military mission in the Nangade district of Cabo Delgado, died in a road accident last Friday (22), reported Carta de Moçambique citing a statement from SAMIM.

According to the statement to which Carta had access, one soldier lost his life and seven others were injured and are being treated at the provincial hospital in Pemba. The accident occurred in Mualela village when the soldiers were returning from a patrol mission in the Chibao area.

It all happened when the driver of the military vehicle suddenly came across a cyclist in front of him, and in an attempt to get around him so as not to run him over, he ended up getting involved in the accident. SAMIM assures in its statement that the injured are stable.
