In the first six months of the year, the Migration Service in Sofala repatriated 30 illegal foreigners through Beira International Airport.
According to "Notícias", another 241 people of various nationalities were sent to Tete for illegal immigration.
It also refused entry to the national territory to eight foreigners of various nationalities for not presenting valid grounds for their entry into Mozambique.
These actions and others, as part of its inspection work, enabled SENAMI to record an increase of 34% in the period in question compared to the figures for the same period last year.
This means that during the first six months of the year, 1023 inspections were carried out to check the legality of foreign citizens in Sofala province, compared to 622 in the first half of 2023.
The figures were shared by the provincial director of SENAMI in Sofala, João Ngonhamo. They reflect a growth that he says is synonymous with selfless joint work to reduce irregularities in migratory movements in the province.
He added that one of the challenges for the coming months would be to intensify the inspection services against anyone who does not comply with all the migration procedures, from various points in the province, especially the railway entrance, a means used mainly by Malawians who leave Tete for the city of Beira.
