Sofala/Gorongosa: Venâncio Mondlane promises to build agricultural institute

Sofala/ Gorongosa: Venâncio Mondlane promete construir instituto agrário

Venâncio Mondlane, the presidential candidate supported by Podemos, asked for votes yesterday in the district of Gorongosa, in Sofala province.

During his rally, the presidential candidate promised to build a secondary agricultural institute to train young people.

Mondlane first criticized the way in which the revenues from the exploitation of Gorongosa National Park are managed.

"We see on WhatsApp, an American, Asian or English film actor has come to visit the Gorongosa National Park, he's leaving millions in Gorongosa... So, what's the point of this park, which is used to bring in millions and doesn't benefit the population?" he asked, quoted in a publication by "O País".

Mondlane also mentioned the fact that Gorongosa is rich in gold, yet the population doesn't benefit from it. "Our young people in Gorongosa, from 2025 onwards, we are going to give them licenses to exploit the gold without being persecuted, without being mistreated."

At the rally he led, the presidential candidate promised to build a secondary agricultural institute to train young people.

"We don't have a warehouse, we don't have processing plants, we don't have anything, so we have to sell at chicken prices.

His promises also include improving the pensions of former combatants. "The demobilized from the time of Unimos, to this day, there are many who don't have a pension, even more seriously, some demobilized from the famous DDR, there are also many who don't have a pension, 1400, 1600, they're getting a handout, but they fought for how long, 16 years," he added.

In addition to the main town of Gorongosa, Venâncio Mondlane worked in the districts of Marromeu, Caia and Maringue.

Having said that, Mondlane left for Nampula, on the island of Mozambique, where he plans to end his election campaign this Sunday
