Sofala/Chemba: Vendaval faz feridos e destrói infraestruturas

An as yet unidentified number of people were injured as a result of a windstorm yesterday in the district of Chemba, Sofala province.

The storm killed animals, destroyed infrastructure such as houses, cut roads and caused electricity pylons to fall, leaving the region in the dark.

One of the people affected by the bad weather lamented the fact that there had been no prior warning of the possibility of rain accompanied by strong winds.

"We had no warning about the bad weather, and suddenly it started raining. Just when we wanted to go to bed. It rained a lot and was very windy and the house started to collapse. I hurt my leg and my son hurt his arm. All the food and household items were destroyed. We have nothing. My house was also destroyed. Suddenly it started raining and it was very windy and the house couldn't resist and it collapsed," she said.
