Around 100 Mozambican civil society organizations, represented by the Civil Society Forum for Children's Rights - ROSC, the Civil Society Learning and Training Centre - CESC, the Women's Forum, among others, congratulate the President of the Republic, Filipe Nyusi, on the resignation of the Secretary of State for Manica, Stefan Dick Kassotche Mpiri.
It is known that a few days ago, Mpiri made statements that civil society interpreted as calling into question national and international achievements and progress made by the Mozambican state, as well as civil society and the entire Mozambican people, particularly in preventing and combating premature unions.
In a statement, Civil Society believes that the dismissal of Stefan Dick Kassotche Mpiri is a clear and positive sign that the President of the Republic is committed to defending the human rights of children, girls and women and that he declares Zero Tolerance for those who commit premature unions, regardless of their position or social class.
Mozambican civil society organizations are also calling on the President of the Republic to continue working to eradicate early unions in Mozambique.
"This is a complex issue that requires a concerted effort from all stakeholders. Civil society is available to collaborate with the state and government of Mozambique to find solutions to this problem," the document reads.
