The National Criminal Investigation Service (SERNIC) said today in Maputo that it was already investigating the double murder of lawyer Elvino Dias and Podemos party leader Paulo Guambe on Friday night in the Coop neighborhood.
According to the spokesman, Hilário Lole, people who were with the victims before the incident and others who witnessed the murder are being heard. He said that SERNIC is in constant contact with Maputo Central Hospital so that, when the time comes, it can also hear the survivor of the ambush. She is still hospitalized and in no danger. However, her clinical condition does not yet allow her to collaborate in the investigations, he clarified.
"But at any moment, as soon as we have the signal, she will be summoned, or we will go to meet her so that she can give us any information. Any information is valid to help us get to the material truth of the facts," he said.
He also said that traces found at the crime scene are being analyzed. SERNIC is also collecting images from the surveillance cameras of some institutions in the vicinity of the crime scene. However, it seems that some cameras did not record the crime.
"Some establishments that have surveillance cameras are showing difficulties in terms of the operation of those cameras," he noted.
Lole said it was still "premature to say whether or not there are any clues. But there is information that leads us to some enlightening point, from information about motivations to the possible identification of the perpetrators of the crime."
