The National Criminal Investigation Service (SERNIC) presented today, Friday (26), a 43-year-old man suspected of being involved in the kidnapping of a businessman, last Saturday, on Eduardo Mondlane Avenue, in the Alto-Maé neighborhood, in the city of Maputo.
Speaking to the press, SERNIC's spokesperson in Maputo city, Hilário Lole, quoted by the NewsHe said that the arrest of the alleged kidnapper was the result of an investigation carried out by the police, following the dismantling of a captivity in Matola and the arrest of an individual linked to the crime.
"He provided information that led to the location and capture of the suspect, who already has a previous record," the spokesman explained.
However, the accused denies any involvement in the crime. "I'm suspected of kidnapping, but I had nothing to do with it, because on the day of the kidnapping I was at home at a ceremony to present my niece. I've never been involved in any kidnapping," says the suspect.
Last Saturday (20), a Mozambican citizen of Asian origin was ambushed outside a commercial establishment on Avenida Eduardo Mondlane, in the Alto-Maé neighborhood. Some members of the protection police were at the scene carrying out their usual street patrols, but they were unable to prevent the crime.
The victim is the son of the owner of the Luxo Brinde establishment located near Fashion World, a clothing and footwear store in Maputo city center.
