The week of protests called by presidential candidate Venâncio Mondlane against the electoral process and results began on Thursday (31), with silent and peaceful demonstrations in some cities, and closed institutions and private companies.
In addition, internet access has been reduced, with users having very little access to social networks. According to a VOA publication, this has been the means used by Mondlane to call for demonstrations, as he did on Tuesday (29), when he called for a week of protests starting today.
However, in the capital, Maputo, the situation is apparently calm, but public institutions, shops and other establishments are closed.
In the city of Beira, everything is calm and there is a silent demonstration.
The city of Nampula, in the province of the same name, is almost deserted and citizens and journalists complain about the lack of internet access.
The police, however, are well present and armed, but few officers were seen with tear gas ammunition.
This is the third wave of demonstrations announced by Venâncio Mondlane.
