An initiative by Mozambican companies will transform the national beaches, to achieve what society expects most and does least, which is cleanliness and safety. According to its protagonists, the program will also help reduce COVID-19 infections and ensure the control of bathers on beaches.
In effect, according to "O País", the "Clean and Safe Beach" program was launched on Monday in the city of Maputo, and will essentially consist in the allocation of coastal shading points through the implantation of non-fixed gazebos and their derivatives on the country's main beaches, during weekends, except on bad weather days.
The use of the gazebos arises from the need to ensure physical distance, as well as to control the crowding on the beaches, in order to promote good usage posture of ours in the face of the current pandemic of COVID-19.
The project will allocate, in a first phase, about 850 gazebos, distributed by different beaches in the southern area, namely, Ponta de Ouro, Ponta Malongane, Miramar, Baia, Aeródromo, Triunfo, Costa do Sol, Bilene, Barra, Tofo and Vilankulos.
The gazebos will be available to the general public, based on the promotion of responsible tourism, through the implementation of the safety, contingency, and hygiene plan vis-à-vis COVID-19, and the implementation of the rules of good conduct and posture for the use of our beautiful beaches.
Lifeguards with life buoys and other first aid kits will be placed at the sites attached to the gazebos.
The "Clean and Safe Beach" program is an initiative of the Mozambican communication and consulting company Universal Media and is supported by Holland Seguros, Heineken, Vodacom, DKT Mozambique, Standard Bank, Águas da Namaacha.
