Health prepares for cholera vaccination

Mozambique will receive and administer the cholera vaccine in the coming days, a measure aimed at controlling the disease that has spread to more districts in the central and northern provinces, causing deaths.

To this end, a request for vaccines was submitted to the international technical group responsible for ordering and distributing vaccines worldwide, taking into account the evolution of the disease outbreak and the high risk of continued spread, combined with the peak of the rainy season.

Speaking to "Notícias", the head of the Health and Surveillance Department at the Ministry of Health (MISAU), Domingos Guihole, said that the country expected to receive around 719,000 doses of the inoculant to be administered in communities with active cases of cholera in the provinces of Niassa, Tete, Zambézia, Sofala and Gaza.
