Sasol has built eight new classrooms at the 12 de Outubro Primary School in Beira City, Sofala. The company made the official handover last Tuesday (12), and the classrooms are equipped with 200 desks, tables and chairs for the teachers.
This project was supported by companies in which Sasol is a shareholder, the Republic of Mozambique Pipeline Company and the Ressano Garcia Thermal Power Plant, and also by the Mozambique Red Cross.
"Sasol believes in the transformative power of investment in the area of education. That is why it has chosen the area of education to provide its support," said, Ovidio Rodolfo, General Manager of Sasol.
For his part, Sofala Governor Lourenço Bulha congratulated the efforts of Sasol and its partners. "This support has come to help in the efforts to rebuild the damage caused by one of the worst cyclones in the last 100 years," he said.
The efforts are part of a list of initiatives to rebuild the country after Cyclone Idai. In this sense, Sasol and its partners have provided 650 thousand dollars to intervene in the reconstruction of infrastructure in Sofala and northern Inhambane.
