Mozambique advocates equal treatment of goods in transit within the Southern African Development Community (SADC) countries, with a view to ensuring the full circulation and competitiveness of goods between states with direct access to the sea and those in the hinterland, reports Notícias.
The wish was expressed in the city of Beira by the central regional director of the Mozambican Tax Authority (AT), Âmido Abdala, during a workshop on the regional customs transit guarantee system, an event organized by the SADC Secretariat.
The source quoted by Notícias said at the time that the meeting could not mean a mere convergence of players united by the same cause, but an opportunity to exchange experience, socialize and debate ideas to ensure the full movement of goods in the region.
Abdala hopes that the knowledge shared at the forum will catalyze the awakening of SADC's conscience to participate more actively in the dissemination of information that will help promote the image of regional transit and consequently reduce smuggling.
