Russia may be investigated for war crimes

Ukraine's Justice Minister announced Monday that at least 42 countries have reportedly appealed to the International Court of Justice (ICJ) to investigate possible war crimes committed during the conflict between Russia and Ukraine.

"All those who have committed crimes against humanity and genocide are potentially under investigation by the ICJ," Denis Malyuska wrote on Facebook early this morning in a text quoted by the Reuters news agency.

The head of the Justice portfolio, quoted by the same agency, also wrote that it was "difficult" for him to imagine a "civilized country" where some "war criminal, such as a political or military leader of Russia" was not detained.

Denis Malyuska also said that what an ICJ ruling was going to do to a Russian diplomatic passport would not now help the Russians, but rather "detain them in any country in Europe or other countries that recognize the jurisdiction of the ICJ."

Recall that several countries are already appealing to all people who have evidence of war crimes to hand it over to their governments - so that it can be used as evidence if the ICJ indictment is carried out.
