Russia orders diplomats out of Slovakia in retaliation for Bratislava decision

The Kremlin has decided to expel three diplomats from Slovakia in retaliation for the parallel decision taken about two weeks ago by Bratislava, the Russian Foreign Ministry announced Monday.

According to "Reuters," the three employees of the Russian Embassy in Slovakia have been told that they must leave Moscow no later than 72 hours after the time of notification.

In mid-March, Slovakia's foreign ministry ordered the departure of three Russian officials from Russia's diplomatic representation in the country, who were given 72 hours to leave the country, similar to the deadline now announced by the Kremlin.

According to the newspaper Económico, last week Poland moved forward with a similar decision motivated by a case of espionage, after the Agency for Internal Security (ABW) identified 45 people - Russian intelligence officials and individuals with links to them - who enjoyed diplomatic status in the country.
