Roque Silva has just resigned as secretary-general of the Frelimo party after losing the election that aimed to elect the presidential candidate in favor of Daniel Chapo. 

Roque Silva decided to step down at a time when advanced information indicated that the Central Committee was already preparing a motion of censure with a view to his removal.

Roque Silva was one of the names proposed by the President of the Republic for the Frelimo party's presidential race. However, his inclusion was never the will of the majority of the members of the Central Committee.
