REVIMO reopens access ramp to Maputo-Katembe bridge after two months of rehabilitation

REVIMO reabre rampa de acesso à ponte Maputo-Katembe após dois meses de reabilitação

The company Rede Viária de Moçambique (REVIMO) is reopening the so-called "N ramp", which gives access to the Maputo-KaTembe bridge, today, Wednesday (23), after about two months of work on the site.

According to a Sunday newspaperThe work began last August and consisted of building a new retaining wall, reinforcing the support structure and repairing the crack in the ramp's sidewalk that compromised user safety.

"These improvements reinforce the safety and resilience of the infrastructure, as well as guaranteeing greater comfort for drivers using this vital link between Maputo and KaTembe," says the company.

Access to the Maputo-KaTembe bridge viaduct, which connects to Avenida da Organização das Nações Unidas (UN) in Maputo city, had been temporarily closed to allow repair work to be carried out.

According to the bridge's concessionaire, REVIMO, the closure of the viaduct was due to a landslide caused by works carried out by a private company nearby, which led to the partial collapse of one of the support pillars.
