Defendants in "Caso Amurane" sentenced to 20 and 23 years in prison after five years

Five years after the assassination of Mahamudo Amurane, the 6th Section of the Judicial Court of Nampula Province decided to sentence the defendants Saíde Ali and Zainal Satar to 20 and 23 years in prison respectively.

Judge Cristina Salia, understood that the two committed the crime of aggravated murder, according to the evidence presented by the Public Prosecutor's Office that filed the indictment.

Mahamudo Amurane was assassinated on October 4, 2017, the day the former president of the Nampula City Council was shot at his private residence in the Namutequelíua neighborhood.

At the time, the victim was leaving a private meeting with Saíde Ali Abdulremane, who was a councilman, and Zainal Abdul Satar, a construction businessman.
