The election results announced on Thursday by the National Electoral Commission (CNE) show 170,000 false votes for Frelimo and Chapo, which, according to the Electoral Bulletin of the Center for Public Integrity (CIP), reveals electoral fraud.
According to the document, during the elections there were voters who placed more than one ballot paper in the same ballot box. This position contradicts that of the CNE, according to which 56,000 voters placed ballot papers in the ballot box for Parliament (Assembly of the Republic) but not for the President. In Inhambane, 6% of voters supposedly voted for parliament, but not for the President, and nobody noticed.
"We may not have seen the votes being stuffed, but the figures approved by the CNE told us where they were"
In all 11 provinces the difference between Chapo's votes for president and Frelimo's for parliament was small, but generally Chapo won more votes. However, in two provinces, Zambézia and Inhambane, the CNE tables show that 111,000 extra votes went to the parliamentary race, and clearly went directly to the Frelimo list. In these two provinces, Frelimo was clearly eager to hold on to and win parliamentary seats. And it was right - without those extra votes, Frelimo would have lost a seat to Podemos.
In Maputo province, where Venâncio Mondlane did well last year, Frelimo was worried and put another 31,291 votes into the presidential race.
Nampula and Tete are two other provinces where Frelimo wanted to get more votes in the presidential elections and support Chapo.
Thus, the data shows that Frelimo filled 170,000 extra votes and was able to choose in which contest to use this extra power.
