Restos mortais do empresário português morto em Maputo foram ontem a enterrar em Portugal

The Cathedral of Braga, Portugal, filled to capacity on Saturday afternoon for the funeral of a businessman from Braga who was murdered in Mozambique.

The funeral ceremonies and mass were concelebrated by Canon José Paulo de Abreu, Vicar General of the Archdiocese of Braga, with the oldest church in Braga full of friends of the family of businessman José Pedro Silva, who died near Maputo, according to the Portuguese press.

Hundreds of people attended the Mass. The poem "Death is Nothing" by St. Augustine was read, in a moment of great emotion at Braga Cathedral. "This is not a funeral, but a celebration of life," said José's sister, Mariana Alves da Silva, quoted in a JN publication.

José Pedro Silva, 41, ran the Sotubos company in Maputo. He was shot dead by his security guard and driver on May 2, in the Machava neighborhood in the Mozambican capital, in order to steal the money he had withdrawn, according to information from the Police of the Republic of Mozambique.

The businessman, who was also an economist, left behind a widow and three children, all underage, two boys aged 10 and 7 and a girl aged 2.
