The Republic of Korea announced last Friday (02), in Maputo, the donation of 1 million dollars, equivalent to 63.2 million meticais, to support the victims of terrorism and natural disasters in Cabo Delgado, as part of the International Organization for Migration (IOM) Project..
The information was shared on Friday (02) in Maputo by the Ambassador of the Republic of Korea in Mozambique, Bok Kang, who stressed that the aid will provide urgent relief to the internally displaced people in Cabo Delgado.
"In addition to addressing immediate humanitarian needs, this support will also contribute to long-term solutions through regional development efforts, where part of this funding will strengthen IOM's Displacement Tracking Matrix, which helps to monitor displaced populations and improve response efforts," said the diplomat.
In a publication by AIMThe source also emphasized that the collaboration between the Republic of Korea and the IOM in strengthening collective capacity aims to meet the immediate and long-term needs of displaced communities in Mozambique.
For his part, the manager of the Shelter Program, Dinis Dinis, explained that, in addition to the Republic of Korea, the project has multi-donors involved in rebuilding infrastructure and human dignity, which means that a large investment is needed in order to reach the largest number of displaced people, depending on the funds available.
