Renamo, the largest opposition party, once again denounced what it called acts of persecution and political intolerance against its members, allegedly carried out by Frelimo.
On the day marking the third anniversary of the agreement to end military hostilities between the government and Renamo, the partridge spokesman pointed to some examples, one of which was the party leader himself, Ossufo Momade.
"On July 29 last, in the town of Mandimba, the entourage of His Excellency General Ossufo Momade, president of RENAMO and member of the Council of State was prevented from staying in all the accommodation resorts of that municipal town, because the economic agents were threatened and forced by the secretary of the Frelimo Party not to receive any member of RENAMO, even against payment" said José Manteigas.
The party considers that the prevailing situation contradicts the "fallacious narrative of inclusion that has earned high praise from inattentive sectors" and "it is clear and liquid that Frelimo does not want peace, nor national reconciliation.
Right now, the opposition's fear is that the situation will escalate as the election season approaches.
