This Monday, the Renamo party submitted a criminal complaint to the Attorney General's Office against the commander-general of the PRM.
Renamo's front-runner for the Maputo city council, Venâncio Mondlane, accuses Bernardino Rafael of excessive use of force during the electoral process and demands accountability.
Among the accusations, according to the newspaper "O País", are the excessive use of force throughout the electoral process and the violation of human rights.
"We have come to submit a criminal complaint against the commander-general of the police, Bernardino Rafael, for all the violations of the law, the violation of human rights, the excessive and disproportionate use of force during the campaign, on polling day and after the process in Maputo city, Matola, Quelimane, Angoche, Nacala Porto and Chiúre, which even involved the use of real bullets that resulted in death. All these aspects are included in the criminal complaint and we want accountability," said Venâncio Mondlane.
Meanwhile, Venâncio Mondlane also discredited the results released by the Constitutional Council (CC) and said that he will appeal to have the ruling annulled.
"The ruling issued by the CC has many omissions and imperfections, as well as illegalities, but as a first step we are asking the body to clarify some issues."
The Renamo leader says that his party will not remain silent until what he considers to be the truth and electoral justice are restored.
