Renamo dismisses Sofala delegate for alleged party mismanagement

Renamo destitui delegado em Sofala por alegada má gestão do partido

The members of the Political Commission and staff of the Renamo party in Sofala province, in central Mozambique, called the media to a press conference on Monday (14) to inform them of the dismissal of Horácio Calavete as the party's provincial political delegate..

Behind this decision is an alleged mismanagement of the party, including abuse of power and trust by Horácio Calavete, as justified by Luís Madjadire, spokesperson for the meeting.

According to a NewsThe latest results, which indicate a vertiginous fall of Renamo and its presidential candidate in Sofala, will also have precipitated the fall of Calavete.

Speaking to the press, Luís Madjadire said that a management committee had already been set up to ensure the functioning of the party while waiting for the election of the new delegate.

He also said that the party assets in Calavete's possession, in this case two houses and a car, should be handed over to the party.

"This decision reflects the position of the party's members and cadres in the context of its restructuring. The decision was taken because of the arrogance, arrogance and damaging management of the party's assets at Sofala province level, led by delegate Calavate," said Madjadire.

The source said that the party's top leadership was aware of the matter before the electoral campaign began, and that there was therefore no connection with the results of the last elections, which are being published by the competent bodies.

Meanwhile, Renamo's provincial political delegate, Horácio Calavete, has promised to comment on the matter today.
