Renamo's spokesman, Marcial Macome, played down the call for the resignation of the party's president, Ossufo Momade, and the head of the list in Nampula province, Abiba Abá.
The desire to remove both figures was expressed by the party's representative in the city of Nampula.
Macome said that this was an individual initiative, and even if it is a decision taken within the party, there are mechanisms in place for this.
"It's an individual thought, and if it's a collective thought there's an appropriate body. It's normal for everyone to give their opinion. But as a party we have our own bodies," he said, stressing that the focus now is on the elections.
