Renamo's political leader, Geraldo Carvalho, said today that he was unaware of reports that the party's president assumed that he himself was the party's main problem and that he had therefore made his resignation clear.
If there is a need to organize Momade's departure from the top of the party, the decision will be taken at the National Council of the political formation. The party's NC could be convened in the next few days, he said.
On the other hand, Carvalho said it was not true that the party's headquarters had been stormed by former guerrillas, who are demanding Ossufo Momade's resignation.
Geraldo Carvalho was speaking to the press in repudiation of the pronouncements that have been made by Vitano Singano - president of the Democratic Revolution (RD) - about the demobilized members of Renamo.
According to Carvalho, Singano has been looking into the number of demobilized Renamo members.
