Renamo accuses STAE of preventing MMV access to polling stations

Renamo acusa STAE de impedir acesso dos MMV às assembleias de voto

The Renamo party accuses the STAE of preventing its candidate delegates from being present in various parts of the country by delaying the process of granting credentials.

Quoted in a publication in the newspaper "O País", the "partridge" also reports the occurrence of various illicit acts during the early hours of the day, allegedly promoted by the ruling party.

Renamo accuses the Technical Secretariat for Elections of preventing its candidate delegates from taking part in polling stations by not giving them credentials. According to Renamo, the outbreak in the early hours of polling day also affected polling station staff.

At a press conference held eight hours after the start of the voting process, party spokesman Marcial Macome described the alleged actions as an attempt to taint the process.

"In this way, we want to denounce the outbreak of MMVs and candidate delegates belonging to Renamo, who, until the early hours of today, had still not been given their credentials," he said.

In addition to this action, Renamo reports the use of ballot boxes without lids, attempts to stuff ballot boxes and the use of pencils in the voting process.

"There are also other anomalies, most notably the attempt to stuff ballot boxes in a school in Maputo City. Despite this, we saw the use of pencils to mark ballot papers at various points," he said.

Accompanied by several senior members of the party, the Renamo spokesman asked the electoral bodies to review what they call the flaws, otherwise the quality of the process would be nullified. (Source: O País)
