Homoíne : PRM officers who assaulted couple remanded in custody

The Provincial Prosecutor's Office in Inhambane has requested the preventive detention of the five officers of the Mozambique Republic Police (PRM) who mistreated a couple for allegedly stealing property.

The request was submitted to the provincial court. The Public Prosecutor's Office submitted the document on the grounds that the agents could interfere in the investigation process. But it also believes that the agents could be on the run.

This morning, the Criminal Investigation Services in Inhambane complied with the court order and arrested the agents.

The officers had already been suspended from the corps and, due to ongoing proceedings, were at risk of being expelled from the PRM. (Source: The Country)
