Nampula is the province with the highest number of electoral offenses (10) so far, followed by Sofala (three) and Niassa (two), according to an official source from the Republic of Mozambique Police (PRM).
At a global level, the spokesman for the PRM command, Orlando Mudumane, was quoted by Noticias as saying that 18 crimes had already been recorded during the voter registration process.
Regarding the crimes committed, the PRM spokesman said that the corporation had recorded "some actions that disturbed public order", such as "people moving outside their respective constituencies to register and mutual aggression between representatives of political parties".
The PRM also reported episodes of using false documents for voter registration and attempts to paralyze the process.
In fact, a few days ago the electoral observation platform Sala da Paz, in a statement, reported incidents that could jeopardize voter registration.
For the PRM, despite the illicit acts registered, voter registration for the local elections is taking place "in an atmosphere of tranquillity"
The voter registry expects almost 10 million voters to register and ends on June 3rd.
