A 49-year-old citizen was kidnapped last Tuesday in the municipal district of Katembe, in the city of Maputo, and the perpetrators demanded 50,000 meticais for ransom.

The family managed to send five thousand meticais after talking to the perpetrators. But having failed to get the rest, the victim was murdered.

The dead man's body was found a day later near National Road Number 1, about a kilometer from the Katembe traffic circle, with signs of aggression.

The funeral ceremonies took place on Saturday.

According to the portal The CountryIt seems that cases of robbery, assault and aggression occur with some regularity in Katembe, and there are other victims.

The lack of lighting and the absence of police patrols at night are pointed out as one of the causes of crime.
