South African President Cyril Ramaphosa said in Cape Town that the G20 summit will go ahead even without the presence of the United States and Argentina.
Trump refuses to participate because he disagrees with South Africa's plan for the summit.
Ramaphosa downplayed the “affront”. He says that the United States is rejecting an important role that it should play as the world's largest economy.
The president of Argentina, Javier Milei, will not be attending either. The country will send its Foreign Minister, Pablo Quirno.
The summit is scheduled for November 22 and 23. It will be the first time the G20 has met on African soil.
South Africa, as chair, wants the meeting to focus on the needs of the Global South, including climate resilience and rising debt.
